Waves from the keys
Stavroula Thoma - Piano
Sunday May 5th, 4pm
Programme
Having recently given birth to my 1st child I have found myself reflecting upon the cyclical nature of life - the coming and going of people, of days and of emotions. The cyclical waves we get in nature mirror that of our lives; wind blowing here and there, the sun and moon rising and setting, flowers blooming and water flowing.
Andrea Granitzio’s Concentric Circles in the Water are a set of three contemporary pieces full of impressionistic, atmospheric colours. Liszt’s ‘Au Lac de Walenstadt’ is a dreamy piece that communicates the stillness of a lake in contrast to the earth’s troubled waters. Tsaikowsky’s seasons are twelve pieces, referring to the twelve months of the year. They include lifes’ great events intertwined with the raw elements of nature
